Lorestan: لرستان

  • In an old book of poem and stories of Iran I saw a story that one soltan told his vazir in your next travel bring with you "tazis from Lorestan". "Lorestan" is a province in west Iran. This story gave me direction for my research and after some months I undrestod that all the area of north west, west and south west of Iran is the most famous area of breeding this dogs. Dr. Mrs. Monica Dahnke confirmed this idea and told me one of the famous families in lorestan gave two salukis as gift to the Shah of Iran about 20 years ago. One of these dogs remaind in Tehran (Farah Abad area) after revolution in 1979. One of my friends saw a brindle tazi in Lorestan about 12 years ago.

Tehran: تهران

  • In Tehran (the capital) Salukis are breeding very well, thanks to the efforts of some dog lovers in this town. They have their own Tazis in their homes in north of Tehran. From these group we can name: Tamp, Mostofi, and... families.

The only Iranian Tazi Kennel named: "MAHMODEYEH" is located in Tehran and belongs to Tamp Family

Azerbaijan: آذربایجان

  • There are even tazi breeders in Azerbaijan. The father of Mr. Sattarzadeh himself, had about 12 tazis in Rezaiyeh and he was a famous breeder of these dogs in this area for many years before the Islamic revolution.

Baluchestan: بلوچستان

  • Exept the Sage-Baluchi (Afghan hound), we can find tazis in east of Iran in Baluchestan area, near the border of Afghanestan. It seems that breeders of these dogs in this area call them: "Tazi Kuseh" because these dogs are the smooth type Salukies.
